Chelsea will be looking to record a first home win in four when they face west London rivals Fulham.
The Blues are back in action four days after drawing 1-1 with Real Madrid in their Champions League semi-final first-leg in Spain and may have one eye on the decider next week.
But with a top-four finish in the Premier League not yet secured, coupled with failure to beat West Brom as well as Brighton in their last two outings at Stamford Bridge, victory over Fulham is important.
Chelsea, who also lost a ‘home’ game against Porto that was played at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in Spain, will go into the London derby with the knowledge that Mateo Kovacic and Antonio Rudiger are unavailable.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed the double injury blow in his pre-match press conference.
“No unfortunately, not, he (Kovacic) is still injured,” Tuchel told reporters. “He trained with us, but he’s still not fully confident, he felt something at the end of training. So he’s not available unfortunately.
