Manchester United confirm stance on outgoings in transfer window

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not expect ‘many outgoings’ at Manchester United this summer.

United want to sign a minimum three players to challenge for the Premier League title next season amid interest in Raphael Varane, Pau Torres, Declan Rice, Jadon Sancho, and Harry Kane, among others.

However, 36 players are listed on the United website’s first-team section and Jesse Lingard, Diogo Dalot, Andreas Pereira, and James Garner are about to return from loan spells.

Lingard and Paul Pogba are out of contract next year, while Dalot, Pereira and Phil Jones appear surplus after United recruited Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, and Donny van de Beek in recent transfer windows.

Goalkeepers Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira are due to be released when their contracts expire at the end of June but Solskjaer is reluctant to let too many players leave.

And, as I said a couple of times recently, I hope we’re going to strengthen with two or three players we definitely need to challenge higher up in the table. We’re still too behind to think it’s just going to come by itself.

“We’ve had a few players on loan that might come back in, there is interest in a few others, maybe going out. But you want to come out of the transfer window strengthened and it might be we allow some players to go out and gain experience, come back stronger for it.
