Kieran Trippier is reportedly hoping for a Premier League return following speculation that he could join Manchester United during the summer transfer window.
The full-back played a vital role as Atletico Madrid won the LaLiga title last season, while he also impressed for England in their passage to the Euro 2020 final.
Trippier will now focus on where his future lies, with just one season remaining on his current contract at the Wanda Metropolitano.
MailOnline have reported that the 30-year-old’s preference is to return to England, following two-years in the Spanish capital with Diego Simeone’s side.
United have previously seen their attempts to sign Trippier rebuffed by Atletico earlier this summer, as they still view him as an important part of the squad.
His displays for England over the summer are also said to have attracted the attention of at least two Premier League sides.
The prospect of joining United, though, is a big attraction for Trippier, who was born in neighbouring Bury and came through the academy at Manchester City.
Despite previous rebuffals, United are still interested in landing the defender before the new campaign gets underway. The Red Devils already have Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but Trippier would offer something different to the 23-year-old with his passing, crossing and set-piece ability.
It will be tough to tempt Atletico Madrid to sell Trippier as he is a favourite of manager Simeone for his effort and commitment down the right flank
His performances were recognised with a place in the LaLiga team of the season and the club value him at around the £30m mark.
It was previously reported that United had hoped Trippier would be available for around £15-20m, but Atletico rejected an approach from the Red Devils.
