Manchester United are beginning to make preparations for the new season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will play historic rivals Leeds at home on August 14 as their opening fixture, then games against Southampton and Wolves are next as United bid to launch a serious Premier League title charge under the Norweigan.
In transfer news, it was claimed Jadon Sancho had his United medical yesterday and the announcement of his transfer is now imminent. It’s also reported that Raphael Varane is happy to wait another season to complete his potential transfer to United.
Obviously, that would mean Varane, 28, could eventually join United on a free transfer, but truthfully, if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to mount a serious title charge next campaign, finding Harry Maguire an elite centre-back partner is required now, not next season.
The MEN revealed earlier this week that United are close to agreeing personal terms with Varane, but that’s arguably the easiest stumbling block to overcome considering it’s said that the player wants a new challenge after 10 years playing for Madrid.
A recap of the day’s United news.
United ‘offer club-record contract’ to Paul Pogba
Take this one with at least a pinch of salt.
It is no surprise United want to keep Paul Pogba rather than lose him on a free next summer, with reports suggesting a new contract has officially been offered.
This Italian reporter claims United have even offered a club-record deal to Pogba.
