Manchester United could be without Marcus Rashford until the end of October after the forward decided to press ahead with surgery on a worrying shoulder issue.
The 23-year-old has been plagued with the issue since 2020 but it worsened in the second half of the campaign.
Rashford barely featured in the European Championships but he did, of course, miss a crucial penalty in the shootout defeat to Italy at Wembley on Sunday night.
United had hoped that an extended period of rest would allow Rashford to avoid surgery but a scan on his shoulder on Tuesday showed that the issue had worsened, meaning he has no option but to go under the knife.
Could Marcus Rashford’s injury setback give this man the opportunity to shock the critics at the start of the season?
