Brandon Williams’ move to Southampton is looking increasingly likely after the Saints baulked at Manchester United’s demand for a £2m loan fee.
The Saints are keen on signing Williams following the departure of Ryan Bertrand to Leciester City and the United youngster wants to move to the south coast, having seen his playing time limited last term.
United know Williams needs game time and they want him to have a full season with another Premier League club to boost his experience of first team football.
But the Red Devils are not allowing Williams to move on the cheap and the Sun claim they want a £2m loan fee from the Saints before sanctioning his depature.
Untied demanded a similar fee from West Ham for Jesse Lingard in January, which forced that move into the final days of the window after weeks of negotiations.
Southampton are unwilling to pay that much given they’re going to cover the full back’s wages and they could drop their interest unless United lower their asking price.
Williams started just two Premier League matches last term and he’s desperate to move on this summer after seeing the bright start to his career stagnate last season.
United are willing to listen to offers for Diogo Dalot after his successful loan spell at AC Milan.
The Portuguese ace has two years to run on his deal at Old Trafford following his £18m arrival from Porto in 2018.
Dalot’s future could hinge on United’s move for Atletico Madrid ace Kieran Trippier.
The Spaniards reportedly want around £38m for the former Tottenham ace, which is more than twice what United are willing to pay for the right-back.
